Just learned from ABS-CBN TV Patrol News and GMA News tonight that Senator Mar Roxas made a major announcement at Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan City.
Senator Mar Roxas is giving way to Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III for the 2010 Presidential Election.

Senator Mar Roxas has been the Liberal Party’s standard bearer for 2010 Presidential Election. But after the death of former President Corazon Aquino, there’s a public clamor for his son – Sen. Noynoy Aquino – to run for President.

Tonight, Sen. Mar Roxas made a statement giving way to Noynoy as the Liberal Party’s standard bearer. He said:

Noynoy Aquino and I share the outrage in the mess we are all in. I want to make a difference. I am the president of the Liberal party. It is within my power to preside over a potentially divisive process or to make the party a bridge for the forces of change.

Sen. Roxas didn’t talk about the possible Aquino-Roxas Tandem. The Liberal Party has yet to announce its official candidates for next year’s election.

Sen. Mar Roxas is believed to be a goal setter even beyond economic quandary. Whatever the decision of Sen. Noynoy Aquino, it would still be for the betterment of the country.
