If you have a Facebook account, I’m certain that you noticed how Facebook protect the email address you used in your account.
Email address on every FB profile was listed in an image format in order to make it harder for malicious scripts to scrape. However, a recent change was made in which the email address in image format was reverted back to plain text.

Facebook Email AddressBasically, it’s safer to post email address in any webpage in an image format compared to text format. But Facebook has an explanation why they applied this change. A Facebook spokesperson said:

Showing email addresses in plain text makes it easier for people to use the information to connect with their friends. We’ve improved our tools for detecting and preventing profile scraping over the last few years such that this additional precaution is no longer necessary.

So, that’s it. Listing the email address on FB profiles before in an image format was really a precautionary for possible scraping. But due to some security tools improvement- FB is confident that email addresses on text format are still secure.

Go check your FB profile and look for your email add in text. What do you think? Just leave a comment below.
