So, you are using Facebook right? And even if you’re away from your PC or laptop, you still access this popular social networking site via mobile phone devices.

But sometimes data charges really hurt depending on the mobile operator you are subscribed into. Not until Facebook officially launched another way for its users to access the website anytime, anywhere, for free.

0.facebook.com is a new mobile site that can be accessed through your mobile phone browser for free. It has the key features of Facebook for mobile (m.facebook.com) with an optimized speed, which means that you can access the new mobile site faster than Facebook Lite. With this new site, users can update their status, view their news feed, like or comment on posts, send and reply to messages, and write on their friends’ Wall. The service is initially available through 50 mobile operators in 45 countries with zero data charges. Below is the initial list of mobile operators partnered with Facebook.

For the Philippines, the first operator to take the ride is Sun Cellular. That means Sun Cellular subscribers can now access Facebook for free. But soon, 0.facebook.com will also be available for Smart Communications. Globe Telecom was not mentioned, though. For other countries, that includes Telstra in Australia, Movistar in El Salvador, SFR in France, XL in Indonesia, DiGi in Malaysia, Telecom NZ in New Zealand, Vodafone in Qatar, Digicel in Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago, 3 in the UK, and MTN in Cameroon and Guinea Conakry.
