YouTube has already turned five last Monday and I noticed something new on the top video sharing website.
There’s an additional feature on its search algorithm that will allow users to filter results through the use of hash tags. You can make use of hashtags on micro-blogging platforms like Twitter or Plurk, but this time you can also use it on YouTube. Take a look at the screenshot below.

So far, only few hashtags are available. That includes #FTW, #LOL, #FAIL, and #OMG which are highlighted in orange on the search results. The use of hashtags on Twitter helps users to identify trending topics or sort out search results. It might be possible that Google is aiming the same feature for YouTube or they might even make it better. Let’s just see it soon.
