Protecting your PC against cyber attacks is one of the important things to consider in protecting personal data and staying safe while working in your computer.
And the most crucial part for users is deciding which anti-virus to choose from the wide range of available selections of different brands.

For years, I’ve already used several PC security software and maintenance suites like that of Avira, Avast!, PC Tools, AVG, Norman, Eset, and the Microsoft Security Essentials. Some of these lasted only for months, some for years. And the longest which until now, I’m still using, is Avast! Home Edition. So far, it works best for me and the good thing is it comes with free license. I’ve been using it for more than three years already – paired with ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall I got for free, too.

The point of using the latter on top of Avast! Home Edition is its dedicated feature – that is as a security firewall. ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall is a better choice than just relying on the security firewall that comes with Windows, especially if you connect to the web most of the time. The only catch when you are using two security softwares like on this case is the chance to slow down your computer. Technically, it could happen.

Being said that, having virus protection and firewall at the same time, packed in a single software installation could be a better choice. And that’s how Norton Internet Security is built. There’s this new version called Norton Internet Security 2011 or better known as NIS2011, and I’m wondering if any of you have already been using this. Hopefully, I can try this one in the next few days; but for now – let me ask you first what anti-virus you’re using and why? Do share your comments below.
