In a bid to stress upon its intention of improving the digital life of Filipinos, Globe Telecom brings Google Chromecast to Philippines. The device can be used to project mobile phones’ screens on TV screens.
Globe Telecom recently partnered with Google and the duo are set to bring the Chromecast service of Google to our local shores. The device will be available for Filipinos in the coming time allowing them to enjoy a richer streaming experience for all their favourite movies, TV shows, sports, news, etc.
Chromecast is a streaming device that is no larger than the size of your thumb. It is plugged into the HDMI port of a television set. What it effectively does is project the apps from your Android devices, iPhones, iPads, MacBook, or even your Windows laptops, to the screen of your television set. It is simple to imagine how richer the viewing and interacting experience would get with Chromecast.
Apart from this, there are many capabilities in Chromecast. It can be used to switch between channels on your television, play games with the device connected to the TV via Chromecast acting as the controller for the game, and use Chromecast-ready apps. All you need to do is to plug the device into an HDMI television, download the Chromecast app on the device you have connected your TV with, and then click on the cast icon on your app to project the screen on your TV.
Although Chromecast in itself is a truly exciting venture, Globe’s partnership with services like HOOQ will provide Filipinos with many added functionalities. Since HOOQ is Chromecast ready, it can be used to stream TV shows, movies, NBA games, etc. on your device and then cast it on the TV for a better viewing experience. YouTube is another service that is Chromecast ready, allowing people to stream videos directly on their television sets.
Following the announcement earlier this week, Globe customers can expect to get Chromecast for free at Globe Home Broadband 1299, which gives them free access to HOOQ. All Home Broadband Plans will have free access to Spotify, NBA League Pass and HOOQ.
