We’ve been using Google URL Shortener, Goo.gl, for a while; but didn’t get a chance to use it directly like what we do with other services like Bit.ly, TinyURL, or security-dedicated service McAf.ee.
We are only able to use Goo.gl since it’s being utilized with several Google services and products such as Google Toolbar, Feedburner, News, Blogger, Maps, Picasa and etc.

Google URL Shortener, with Stats

But now, you can already use such URL shortener directly from its new home – Goo.gl! You can either use the service while signed in to Google or not. Google is committed to offering high quality services and among the highlights of Goo.gl according to its blog post include:

  • Stability: We’ve had near 100% uptime since our initial launch, and we’ve worked behind the scenes to make goo.gl even stabler and more robust.
  • Security: We’ve added automatic spam detection based on the same type of filtering technology we use in Gmail.
  • Speed: We’ve more than doubled our speed in just over nine months.

If you haven’t tried yet, you can visit the website by typing Goo.gl in your web browser. Don’t forget to leave a comment below what you can say about the service. Won’t you?
