32GB Galaxy Note PRO 12.2 (Wi-Fi Only) Priced Expensively at ~50K PHP

In a tweet sent by Samsung Mobile UK, the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Wifi that secretly reached the Philippine shores ahead of its official CES 2014 launch is now officially available for pre-order, at least in the UK. The big 12.2 incher Pro tablet carries a hefty price tag of £649 (about $1,076 or around Php 49k based on current ex-rate).

Nielsen Study Shows Filipinos Didn’t Spend Too Much Money on New Gadgets in Q4 2013

A decline in the country’s tech sales has been recorded during the last quarter of 2013 as the Philippines has been hailed “Asia’s 2nd most Optimistic Consumers” in the recently conducted Nielsen Consumer Confidence Index despite the devastating aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda, leaving many dead and homeless in the Central Philippine Region.

Nielsen Q4 Consumer Confidence IndexIn the said study conducted between November 11 – 29, 2013, a result of above 100 denotes consumer optimism, while anything below 100 indicates a pessimistic behavior. Indonesia got a consumer index of 124 during Q4, while the Philippines came second with 114 — still an impressive number because it was then when typhoon Yolanda struck the Country. “As expected the sentiment of Filipino consumers went down as a result of the devastation of typhoon Yolanda,” according to Nielsen Philippines Managing Director Stuart Jamieson. “As a consequence, they are examining their personal finances closely and are becoming more cautiously optimistic and dynamic in their choices around spending and saving.”

NBI Raids Cybersex Call Center Alleged Selling Porn Sites

In response to Malacañang’s vow to end trafficking involving children and minors for online sex abuse in the country, the National Bureau of Investigation conducted a raid in Sta. Mesa tuesday night followed by another raid in Quezon City the day after.

In a report by GMA News, NBI arrested 20 people in a raid conducted last Tuesday evening at an establishment in Sta. Mesa. These people arrested are said to be involved in recruiting “call center” agents, mostly minors ages 15 years old and below. Recruited minors are offered Php 5,000 to up to Php 30,000 a week to act as models to chat with foreigners from the US, Astralia, UK and other countries using pre-recorded porn videos of Filipinas.

NBI Released Full CCTV Footage of Vhong Navarro’s Mauling Incident; Watch Online Here!

This afternoon, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) presented to the media the full CCTV footage of Deniece Cornejo’s condominium building in Taguig, Forbeswood Heights, recorded last January 22 in lieu of the alleged rape incident involving actor-host Vhong Navarro.

After reviewing the said CCTV footage, NBI is now dismissing the possibility of Vhong Navarro attempting to rape Deniece Cornejo last January 22, as the latter claimed, for grounds that the series of incidents captured by the building’s CCTV camera does not match Deniece Cornejo’s claims.

No 64-bit Processor, Not Metal Case for Samsung Galaxy S5 – Says KGI Research

Little by little, detailed specs of the upcoming Galaxy S5 are coming out, at least through the rumor mill. In the document issued by KGI containing the detailed specifications of the Galaxy S5, the device is said to come in 2 variants — Prime and Standard — with each variant having a Global and Korean model. A lot of the rumored specs we reported last week are present in the leaked spec sheet, including the 5.2 inch WQ HD display (for the Prime variant), 16 megapixel camera and fingerprint reader. 

Microsoft Renames SkyDrive Cloud Service to OneDrive After Trademark Dispute with BSkyB

Microsoft has announced that they are renaming their cloud service SkyDrive to OneDrive through a post on The OneDrive Blog because of a trademark infringement dispute with British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB).


Microsoft agreed back in June 2013 to rename their cloud service SkyDrive because of the dispute, within a reasonable amount of time. And just yesterday, Microsoft officially announced the new name of their loved cloud service, OneDrive. Current subscribers of SkyDrive and SkyDrive pro won’t experience any service interruptions as the company makes transition to the new cloud service.
