Apple has announced in a press release that the company has generated a record breaking amount of $10 billion from selling apps in the last year. In the last December alone 3 billion apps were downloaded and the company sold over $1 billion of apps. Thus the month of December has become the most successful month in the App Store history. The net earnings of the app developers from the App Store have now reached over $15 billion.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services expressed his gratitude to their customers and app developers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store. Moreover he said, “The lineup of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014.”
The company, in their press release, has credited the sell upsurge of December to the launch of iOS7. Developers like Evernote, Yahoo!, AirBnB, OpenTable, Tumblr, Pinterest and American Airline took advantage of iOS7’s new interface and API to develop superb apps with increased efficiency and performance.
