As it turns out Globe Telecom would lose its exclusivity of the iPhone, its rival telco Smart, is reportedly in talks for possible partnership with Apple.
According to Inquirer, “Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of Smart’s parent firm Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., confirmed that Smart was in talks with Apple to launch the latest version of the iPhone –iPhone 4S– before year end.”
Smart Communications is also said to offer Plans for the iPad, adding a new brand to its tablet portfolio.
No other details of Smart’s iPhone offering have been revealed, just that it would initially be offered to “high-end” postpaid subscribers.
Well this may sound an exciting news as this could led to competition and perhaps even better offering to end users. We’ll keep you posted for developments of this story, so just stay tuned! [via]
