First Digital Conference in Cebu to Shake Up Mindsets of VisMin’s Creative Industry and Business Sector

Back in 2012, I remember IMMAP or the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines held a digital marketing seminar-workshop here in Cebu. It was also the same time when I launched TekWorx Mobile and Web Services. Such advocacy of IMMAP in digital marketing complemented in some ways in raising the bar for Cebuano digital marketers and enthusiasts.

Since then, communities and groups in Cebu conducted different digital marketing and tech events, or digital learning conferences and boot camps. I still have to see a local digital conference with event settings similar to IMMAP’s annual Digital Congress or DigiCon. Well, don’t get me wrong — IMMAP’s DigiCon is really huge. With the digital world on the rise, more and more businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals embracing digital, it is now time for Cebu to have a digital conference of the same quality.

That seems to be the promise of the upcoming event in the metro: the Bai City Con.

What is Bai City Con?

The Bai City Con is a 3-day digital conference in Cebu geared towards teaching the trends, tools, and best practices of the New Media. The event will focus mainly on the digital industry, with quick talks, panel discussions, and fireside chats about a plethora of relevant topics from its roster of speakers who are experts in their respective fields and industry.

Bai City Con Speakers

Armed with experiences, models, platforms, and practical frameworks, the speakers include Gary Whitehill, Global Board of Adviser for DELL Center for Entrepreneurs; Margot Torres, Managing Director of McDonald’s PH; Ron Hose, Founder and CEO of Coins.ph; Donald Lim, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network; Joey Ong, Executive Creative Director of Designs of Joey Ong (DOJO); Dindo Marzan, Managing Director and Vice-President of Voyager Innovation; Angel Antonio, President and COO of ASPAC Communications; Jim Guzman, Head of Social of Dentsu Aegis Network; Earl Valencia, Corporate Venture, Incubation and Innovation of DELL EMC; Luigi Quisumbing, Mayor of Mandaue City; David Jones Cua, Executive Creative Director of RGC; and many more.

Cebu Digital Conference, the First of Its Kind

RGC or Republiq Group of Companies is the team behind Bai City Con. It’s the same company that runs Code Republiq, Creative Republiq, and among others, including that very new yet now popular Facebook media channel, BAI TV. I had a quick chat with RGC’s CEO, Bryan Yap, where I asked if Bai City Con is something like IMMAP’s DigiCon in terms of quality — “with the line of speakers we have, yes”, he said. He added that the event would have maximum audiences and participants of about 700.

Official Media Launch

The Bai City Conference was officially launched to the media and bloggers earlier today. Present are its panelists: David Jones Cua, Executive Creative Director of RGC; Bea Alfar Evardone, COO of RGC-Creative Republiq; Maan Briones-Ting, Resource Mobilization of Bai City Con; Theresa “Ganzo” Sederiosa, Cebu City Economic and Business Development Consultant, and Nannette Arbon, Assistant Regional Director of DTI Region 7.

The event will be held at Skyhall B of SM Seaside City Cebu from August 23 to 25. Visit www.baicity.ph for more information, schedules, and the full line up of speakers.
