Globe Telecom is set to hold the first ever Cebu Media Excellence Award (CMEA) in celebration of the province’s Press Freedom Week. The CMEA is Globe’s way of paying tribute and giving recognition to print, broadcast, and digital media practitioners “who have excelled” in their own field. Searching for the CMEA finalists began in September last year until July this year, with the awarding of winners set to kick off next week, September 18th.

Interestingly, the Cebu Media Excellence Award recognizes not just print and broadcast journalists, but it also eyes online or new media practitioners such as bloggers. And talking about bloggers, I’m glad and honoured by the fact that Cebu Tech Blogger is one of the finalist for the Blogger of the Year category. CTB has been recognized in the local scene at least twice since its inception (Finalist, 2010 Philippine Blog Awards; Winner, 2011 Best Cebu Blogs), and being on the list of the CMEA is fascinatingly irresistible.

Globe Telecom tasked a leading auditing firm Punongbayan & Araullo to count and validate the winners of the Cebu Media Excellence Award.
