When we share links with long URL, we prefer shortening it rather than sharing the original one.
There are many websites offering this service, but only to the point that it just cloak and wrap long URLs. It doesn’t care where the shortened URL points to which is of course can be exploited since the one who suppose to click the link won’t be able to know whether the URL will redirect to a safe website or not.
Computer security firm, McAfee, has already its own version of URL shortener – the McAf.ee. But this time, it doesn’t only works as with the other URL shorteners. McAf.ee makes sure that the shortened URLs are safe to visit, utilizing its Global Threat Intelligence technologies.
