Facebook just launched recently its new feature called Facebook Places.
It’s a geo-location service similar to FourSquare or Gowalla, in which it allows user to share his location in the real world.
There are times that you go out of town for shopping, checking in restaurants, watch movies, or even just go to a favorite coffee shop – and then you realize you want to inform your friends where you are. With Facebook Places, your wall will be updated when you check in and your friends’ news feed will be updated as well. You can also tag your friends similar to the usual tagging you do on wall updates, in notes, and etc. – so that they can be part of the happenings.
Facebook Places is currently available on phones that support W3 geolocation. The application is available to users in the US with access to the Facebook application for iPhone or touch.facebook.com. However, FB has a plan of rolling out the app to other mobile devices and the web in the future. So, just stay tuned!
To access Facebook Places app using your device web browser, just go to http://touch.facebook.com and tap on the Places tab. When prompted to share location, tap “Share Location”. That’s pretty interesting isn’t?
