Guatemala Sinkhole Photos on Flickr, Real

On May 31, 2010, a natural disaster happened in the city of Guatemala.
A sinkhole similar to the one in Florida appeared after it was hit by a tropical storm, Agatha. There have been rumors that the picture is edited through photoshop, sadly it is real. According to the news, more than a hundred people died due to the intense weather in the region and the photo of the Guatemala Sinkhole had been posted in Flickr by the Guatemalan Government showing the “hundimiento” – a spontaneous sinkhole.

According to Gizmodo, a sinkhole “is a natural depression caused by the removal of soil by water. This process can happen slowly, but sometimes the land just cracks open. In this case, the sinkhole happened suddenly.”
