If you buy an iPhone or iPod Touch, there’s no connector or interface cable included in the box that you can opt to use for your car.
The only way to extend your iPod/iPhone multimedia experience to your car is to purchase a cable specially designed to fit on your car stereo. A colleague of mine had this problem before, in which he was looking for a connector (specifically for Kenwood receiver) but can’t find one at local stores.
He asked for help, and luckily I found one at eBay. Not at eBay Philippines since it was not available, but in the US. The connector costs around 12.89 USD plus a 4.99 USD shipping fee through USPS first class international mail. The ordered item arrived in 5 weeks.
The said type of connector works with the auxiliary audio input feature of the car stereo (Kenwood), in which the other end can be connected also to the 30-pin slot of the iPhone or iPod Touch.
It’s a good thing that through this cable, you can maximize the use of your iPhone / iPod Touch as an audio driver of your car sound system. There are no other features of this connector such as controls and radio display, except that it can charge the iPod / iPhone while being plugged behind the stereo.
If you prefer buying this at Amazon, they are selling this type of cable between $19 and $24.
How about you? What iPhone / iPod car accessories you are using?
