It’s over. LG first announced the sale, and in just two days before it happen – Nokia made its way to announcing that they will also join the hype.
We got it. As one of the hottest talks in town, customers thought it’s going to be a fad. Well, for the 50% discount of Optimus One P500 and 60% off of Nokia C6 – I can’t think of any reason people won’t buy those cool gadgets. Interestingly, several Nokia and LG store locations in the country were doomed with hundreds or even thousands of customers.

At the Cyberzone alone in SM City Cebu, more or less 400 people lined up at LG Concept Store for a chance of getting the Android 2.2-powered device. But they only sold out more or less 30 units. Ugh. I guess your grandma won’t be happy listening to your complaints, is she?

As for the case of Nokia, they eventually sold out 30 units according to a colleague of mine who got one. It was first announced that only 12 units were available, changed to 15, and finally to 30 units- perhaps due to pressure of number of customers on queue. The good thing for Nokia, they made it clear how many units they are going to dispose. At least it’s more specific. For LG, they kept on adhering to what they called “1-hour-window-sale”, which left questions as to how many units would be handed out to customers. A heckler can actually find lots of lapses on the flow.
As for those stores located in Luzon and Mindanao, I actually heard the same story- unorganized, poor system, unsatisfied customers. The sad thing is I’m one among those who were displeased, despite getting there on queue as early as 8:30 AM!

I just hope Filipinos won’t intimidate having boycott of LG and Nokia products as what others already started campaigning. Definitely, LG and Nokia will learn from this mishap. Please do share your thoughts…
