Our country’s market for local smartphone players are getting more exciting than ever, as MyPhone teases everyone with their very own octa-core smartphone, dubbed as the MyPhone Agua Infinity. In case you missed it, Cherry Mobile and Starmobile released their own octa-core phones more than a month ago, the Cosmos Z2 and the Diamond X1 (we even did a head to head specs comparison the two phones, which you can read here).
With a yet to be disclosed launch date, we can’t help but ask, is MyPhone a month (or more) too late in releasing an octa-core phone? Well, all we can say is, “it’s better late, than never”, as there aren’t really that much octa-core smartphones yet in the market, even from global brands. There’s only a handful.
Jumping back to the device, the Agua Infinity features a 5 inch IPS HD display powered by an octa-core processor bundled with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of built-in storage, a 16 megapixel main camera and a 5 megapixel front shooter. The device boots JellyBean 4.2 out of the box, and is expected to come with a retail price of around Php 12k to 13k.
And as you guessed it, the processor found on the Agua Infinity is the same processor the Diamond X1 and the Cosmos Z2 sports: MediaTek’s Mt6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. Probably a let down is that the MyPhone decided to omit the inclusion of a microSD card slot, while its competition comes with one, and supports to up to 64 GB.
