Back in September, the Dev Team released RedSnow for Mac which can jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G devices running iOS 4.0 and 4.1; and early last month, RedSnow for Windows was released.
But such releases of RedSnow for Mac and Windows only support fewer devices which basically turn out the tool unusable for those who own the latest models of iDevices. The good thing is, the Dev Team incorporated Geohot’s Limera1n exploit to support more devices and adds the ability to restore custom IPSW or firmware.
Now, the latest versions of RedSn0w (see download links below) will work with iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPod Touch 2G, iPod Touch 3G, and the latest iPod Touch 4G. Please note that iPod Touch 2G – MC models are not supported yet.
In the meantime, we’ve also incorporated the limera1n exploit into redsn0w. But we’ve added a few extras:
• custom bootlogos for iPhone3G/iPhone3GS/iPod2G users (with qualifying bootroms)
• an option that implements the “DFU” button in PwnageTool. This button (which you can use from Windows) lets you prepare your device for a custom DFU. Even if you’re purely a Windows user, you can get a trusted friend to run PwnageTool over your IPSW to create a custom IPSW. You can now install that custom IPSW on your own Windows box, after you run this redsn0w version. [via Dev Team]
