Samsung Announces the Chromebook 2; comes Exynos 5 and Faux Leather Finish starting at $320

Chromebooks are basically laptops running on Google’s Chrome OS. They are the more affordable, lighter and smaller alternatives to full sized Windows and Mac laptops. Many PC manufacturers have released their own line of Chromebooks, and Samsung is no stranger to this. The Korean tech giant just announced the new Chromebook 2, which will come in 2 sizes–11.6 and 13.3 inches.

The new Samsung Chromebook 2 comes with an Exynos 5 eight-core processor, the same octa-core chip found on a variant of the latest Galaxy S5 release. Other specs includes the usual for any Chromebook machine out there: HD LED display, 16 GB eMMC storage, 4 GB of RAM, 720p web camera and a battery that lasts up to 8.5 hours.

Just in case you’re not familiar with Chromebook laptops and you’re worried about the small internal storage, here’s what you need to know: Chromebooks are really designed to come with small flash storage capacities, as they mainly rely on Google’s cloud storage service.

Usually, Google’s main market for Chromebooks are the Education market, but things may change with Samsung’s new Chromebook 2, as the device comes with a faux leather finish, just like what the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 and the Galaxy Tab Pro line sports. This move by Samsung will surely attract hip and trendy customers on a budget, or those who are looking for nice looking secondary laptops. I personally wanna get my hands on this new Chromebook, or even get one for myself when it hits the shelves next month.

The 11 inch model comes 2 color options, Jet Black and Classic White, with a price tag of just $320 (or ~Php 14k). The 13 inch model on the other hand comes in Titan Grey, priced at the $400 (or ~Php 17.5k) mark.
