Samsung took to twitter the announcement of the Unpacked 5 event, happening on the 24th of February in Barcelona, the first day of the 2014 Mobile World Congress. With this, everyone is just expecting that the Korean tech giant is finally unveiling the much awaited successor to the current flagship and the 5th installment of the very successful Galaxy S line, the Samsung Galaxy S5.
There’s a pile of rumors and leaked specs on the much hyped Galaxy S4 successor, and before the month ends, it will officially be announced, hopefully. Looking back at the rumors, at first it was said that it may feature an Iris scanner in answer to the iPhone’s Touch ID sensor, but it was later dismissed due to impracticality but instead would sport a familiar fingerprint reader and an improved air gestures.
Evleaks also tweeted a photo of a new TouchWiz UI ala Microsoft Metro, and then there’s the contradicting leaks from 2 analysts, KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo and KDB Daewoo Securities on the utilization of a 64-bit chip. But, they both agree that the SG S5 will come in 2 variants, one featuring a quad core processor, and the other with a very fast octa core processor.
We know everyone is very excited for the future of the Galaxy S line, so stay tuned with us for more updates on the upcoming Galaxy S5 flagship, as well as the whole 2014 Barcelona MWC event happening from February 24 to 27. [via]
