No 64-bit Processor, Not Metal Case for Samsung Galaxy S5 – Says KGI Research

Little by little, detailed specs of the upcoming Galaxy S5 are coming out, at least through the rumor mill. Although these leaked specs and details on the Galaxy S4 successor are yet to be confirmed by Samsung whether true or not, analysts are very hopeful for the company’s next flagship. In the document issued by KGI containing the detailed specifications of the Galaxy S5, the device is said to come in 2 variants — Prime and Standard — with each variant having a Global and Korean model. A lot of the rumored specs we reported last week are present in the leaked spec sheet, including the 5.2 inch WQ HD display (for the Prime variant), 16 megapixel camera and fingerprint reader.  (more…)

What We Know About Samsung Galaxy S5

It seems like everyday, there’s a new update about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 proving that everyone is just excited about the device. Last night, we wrote about new details on the inclusion of a fingerprint reader, improved air gesture sensors, price and release of the S5, and today, we have details on how it would look like.

Samsung US Patent D697,886 S

Today, Samsung was granted a new design patent, Patent No D697,886 S filed as early as June 12, 2012 by the US Patent and Trademark Office of what seems to be a buttonless phone that what many believe what the upcoming Galaxy S5 would look like. Nothing is really certain as of now, but we are hopeful that this could be it. One thing is for sure though: if this really is the S5, then its safe to say that it looks better than the current S4. Galaxy S5 May Launch on Feb 23; to Ditch Iris Scanner for Fingerprint Reader and Air Gestures!

2 weeks ago, we wrote about Samsung Mobile’s Executive Vice President Lee Young Hee talking about the possibility of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 to sport an Iris scanner in answer for the iPhone 5S’ Touch ID fingerprint scanner. And now, word has it that apparently, Samsung has shelved the idea, and decided to go with a fingerprint scanner and better air gestures. Details after the break!
s5Another detail on the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S5 surfaced as we get closer to the said unveiling of the device. According to an unnamed Korean Herald source, Samsung has decided not to include the Iris scanner for the upcoming S5, as it is simply impractical. At least as of now. Imagine having to put the device near your eyes just to unlock it. And, an iris scanner would require a third camera on the device, which would then make the S5 thicker. (more…)
