Cebu Tech Blogger isn’t dead yet; and it would never be dead! Just that I was hooked up in a situation in which I can hardly publish updates on this blog. Hiring writers isn’t a priority right now ‘coz I want to keep CTB as close to being a personal tech blog.
For some of you who already knew, I quit my full time job at Teradyne Philippines last March for a reason. Working at Teradyne for 5 years was an awesome experience and I truly valued the company’s contribution to what I have learned in the tech industry. Teradyne was my 2nd job actually; my first job was at Lexmark for 1.5 years and that leaves me a combined experience of more than 6 years now in the ICT industry. So, why exactly I’m telling you this? Well, simply because these companies have something to do with the existence of this blog. But interestingly, I shifted my career into something I loved doing most, a career that requires knowledge and skills I’ve only acquired out from being curious about it. I’m talking about “the internet” and every “online opportunity” that I’ve never ever seen before year 2008.
Building a Company
Right after I quit my job, it’s no secret that I got married. But getting married was not the only thing I’ve been prepping before I handed over my resignation letter to my boss. Along the way, I co-founded an Inbound Marketing company that we officially launched last May 7th. The company is called TekWorx Mobile and Web Services, and obviously it’s very young but we’re very much optimistic on its growth. While we seek the help of Cebu Business Incubator for IT (CeBuinIT), we continue working for several projects and clients already. And yeah, that’s pretty exciting yet challenging but that doesn’t mean anything about leaving CTB after all.
I’m really excited to tell you guys what are among the great plans I have for CTB, but before I tell you that, I’d like to let you know that I still continue serving the Cebu Bloggers Society, Inc. as its Chairman for Network and Linkages. I really do love the job and I’m humbled to be elected again for yet another term.
So what’s the latest about Cebu Tech Blogger?
Well, there are details which I can disclose right now while some have to remain under radar. 🙂
First up, there’s going to have another revamp on the entire blog specifically the design and layout. The purpose of the revamp is “to have a better look and feel of a tech blog”, and by that, I mean having a blog that focuses on great and valuable contents, but with less ads. Unlike the current and previous designs of this blog, the new makeover of CTB will be handled by our cool friends at Clicking Labs. I’ll just post a separate update about that once the new design is ready, but we have the first week of July as our target completion.
Last week, I joined the launch of CebuTechJobs.com (CTJ) – the newest “Tech Job Portal” in Cebu. As I’ve said, the new CTB will offer more compelling and valuable contents across the site, and soon there will be a job section on this blog in which visitors and fans can check the latest job listings from CTJ. I believe having a section for locally available tech jobs would be a great benefit especially for those who seek new career opportunities.
Advertising is NOT Priority, But Needed
CTB is a member of several advertising networks — from banner ad, to contextual, to inline or in-text ads, and etc. – but as soon as the new design and layout is in effect, you’ll find CTB less crappy because of ads. Advertising is very critical for blogs and websites to keep it running, but I believe there’s a better and unique yet effective way to do it, that is without having to compromise the entire readership and user experience.
I won’t make this post any longer, but I wish you’d be excited as I am, as I make this tech blog even better. ‘Till next time! 🙂
