Twitter Follow Bug Discovered | No Following and Followers a Hack?

I was still using Twitter few hours ago when I spotted something surprising for me.
The number of my followers and other Twitter users I’m following dropped to zero. I visited my friends’ accounts that I was also following, but I was surprised that it will force me to follow them again.

Problogger has zero followers?

The issue was confirmed by Twitter (May 10, 2010) that there’s a Follow bug discovered. Updates on the status of the Twitter service said:

We identified and resolved a bug that permitted a user to “force” other users to follow them. We’re now working to rollback all abuse of the bug that took place. Follower/following numbers are currently at 0; we’re aware and this too should shortly be resolved.
Update (10:18 AM PST): Of note: protected updates did not become public as a result of this bug.

So it’s clear that this is just another outage, however, no confirmation yet if the website was hacked. Stay tuned for updates!
