Vista Trails Windows 7; XP still on the Lead

Seeing Windows XP on top of the world most widely used operating system is no little wonder, but looking at the graph below is something to be considered marvelous.
Just 8 months after its release, Windows 7 now overtakes Windows Vista in terms of market share.

Windows 7 vs. Vista Market Share

The highest market share attained by Windows Vista since last year was on October 2009, having 18.83% market share. But when Windows 7 was officially released on the same month, Windows Vista started to decline to 18.55% for the month of November 2009 while Windows 7 was at 4.00%. Vista continued to decline month after month while Windows 7 performing the opposite. As NetMarketshare reported the stats for July 2010, it shows Windows 7 topping over Vista by 0.12%. As of this writing, Windows 7 market share is 14.46% while Vista at 14.34%.

Windows XP, of course, is still holding an impressive 61.87% market share. Leading far from the combined Windows 7 and Vista share, doubled!

The exciting part is, how long would it take for Windows 7 to surpass XP? You might have something to share. Let’s have it in the comment section below.
